Emirates Airlines has cancelled its suspension of flight operations to and from Dubai-Lagos.
The airline sent a message to its customers via email stating, “We are pleased to inform you that effective from 11 September 2022, we will reinstate operations of our flights”.
“Inbound flights from Dubai to Lagos (EK783) and outbound flights from Lagos to Dubai (EK784) will recommence from Sunday, 11th September 2022.
“Lagos flights after 30th September 2022 will be advised in due course“, the short statement said.
The Airline suspended its flight operations to Nigeria on August 18, citing difficulty repatriating its funds back to its home country due to forex illiquidity at Nigeria’s Central Bank.
Foreign airlines in Nigeria had been complaining since last year of a lack of access to forex at the official rate, at a point reaching $144 million, challenging their capacity to maintain operations.
The Nigerian government has been battling forex shortages due to colossal industrial-level theft of its oil resources which cut down revenues.
The federal government intervened to avert the embarrassment of a growing number of airlines closing shops in Nigeria and ordered the CBN to prioritize forex to the airlines.
