Buhari Could Lose the 2019 Election – US Intelligence Firm

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari could lose power in February’s election if the opposition manages to unite, according to New York-based analysis firm Teneo Intelligence.

Teneo Intelligence, a United States intelligence firm, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, made the prediction.

According to Bloomberg, a business online publication, the result of the Osun State governorship election where the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, failed to get the highest votes signals its waning popularity, Teneo said in a note to clients.

“There is already a clear message sent from Osun State: provided the PDP remains united, and the vote is reasonably free and fair, Buhari and his APC are likely to lose the general elections,” said Malte Liewerscheidt, an analyst at Teneo.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 22, 2018, Osun governorship election,  Senator Ademola Adeleke, came first while that of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola came second, followed by Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The vote difference between Adeleke and Oyetola was marginal and it made the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the election inconclusive at first.
