Tanzania has removed Nigerian passport holders from its referred visa category. This means Nigerians travelling to the country will no longer need to undergo the additional visa referral process.
The change took effect on September 25, 2026, following amendments published in Government Gazette No. 246 of 2026.
According to Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department, Nigerian nationals will now follow the country’s standard visa application process.
Nigerians can apply through Tanzania’s official immigration online portal or at designated entry points, without the previous referral requirements.
The development was announced by Tanzania Immigration Services Department Chief Spokesperson, ACI Paul J. Mselle. He said the change followed the recently published amendments to the country’s visa categories.
This development means Nigerian travellers can now access Tanzania’s standard visa process without extra referral steps.
The change is expected to make travel between the two countries faster and less bureaucratic for Nigerian visitors, business travellers and tourists alike.
