The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has affirmed that Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will not be removed from her position as an ordained pastor in the church.
Speaking during the monthly Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye explained that Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an Assistant Pastor more than ten years ago, long before her husband, Bola Tinubu, showed any intention of running for the presidency.
Adeboye emphasised that the First Lady went through the full process of ordination and has not violated any of the church’s guidelines. He added: “The church will not bow to external pressure calling for her removal.”
He clarified that RCCG is not aligned with any political party and remains open to all worshippers. According to him, attendees cut across major platforms including APC, PDP, ADC, APGA, and LP.
Adeboye maintained that while the church welcomes everyone, it does not permit politicians to use its altar for campaign purposes.
On the 2027 presidential election, Adeboye said: “The individual who will lead Nigeria has already been ordained by God.”
He also addressed insecurity affecting Christians in northern Nigeria, stating that RCCG has continued to provide support through internally displaced persons camps and welfare initiatives.
He rejected the allegation that the church has remained silent, insisting it has been actively involved in relief efforts.
Adeboye’s remarks reaffirm RCCG’s position as a spiritual institution that separates its pastoral responsibilities from political pressures.
Some have called on the church to sanction the First Lady for her political activities, but it seems her RCCG denomination stands firmly on her side.
