The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has restated its plan to raise crude oil production to 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million by 2030.

Udy Ntia, Executive Vice-President for Upstream Operations, spoke at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2025, hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

“Our shared aim is profitability, sustainability, and growth,” Ntia said, explaining that NNPC’s upstream strategy focuses on technology, efficiency, and decarbonisation.

He added that Nigeria’s oil sector is shifting from competition to collaboration and co-investment to achieve smarter, cleaner, and more profitable production.

Technology and Collaboration Drive Growth

Ntia highlighted the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools to maximise output from mature fields and guide smarter capital investment.

He said the company is also committed to reducing emissions through gas monetisation, flare reduction, and pipeline expansion, including the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline.

“Our upstream plan seeks to balance energy security, profitability, and environmental responsibility to keep Nigeria’s resources relevant in the global energy transition,” he explained.

He further said that refinery optimization and hybrid financing models will accelerate project execution and that collaboration between national and international oil companies will be key to future success.
