Elon Musk Regrets Harsh Comments on Trump After Online Clash, as Feud Ends

Tesla CEO and owner of X, Elon Musk, has admitted he went too far in some of his recent posts about U.S. President Donald Trump. Their disagreement erupted after a major fallout over a new policy proposal called the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

The bill, currently under debate in Congress, has faced criticism for potentially worsening U.S. debt and for altering incentives for electric vehicles.

The feud intensified when Musk left his position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a cost-cutting agency he had been heading.

After stepping down, he was given a farewell at the White House. But things quickly turned sour between him and President Trump. Musk expressed strong opposition to the bill, which he said would harm the U.S. economy and deepen its debt crisis.

Musk and Trump Exchange Accusations Over Loyalty and Policy

In a public response to Trump’s criticisms, Musk took to his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, and made several explosive claims. “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude,” Musk wrote.

He then made an even more serious accusation in another now-deleted post. Referring to the Department of Justice’s secret investigation files into Jeffrey Epstein, Musk claimed they were not released because of Trump’s involvement.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk posted. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

The post was later deleted, raising questions about Musk’s motivations and the accuracy of the claim. Musk did not provide evidence to support the statement.

Musk’s Father Describes Episode as Stress Reaction

As the public and media reacted to the dramatic online fallout, Musk’s father, Errol Musk, offered an explanation. He told reporters that Elon may be acting under extreme pressure. Errol described the conflict as “a small thing” and linked it to “PTSD from the White House.” He also predicted that the situation would “be over tomorrow.”

Many observers have linked Musk’s recent behaviour to rising tension in U.S. politics, growing scrutiny of Big Tech, and the ongoing rivalry between business elites and political leaders. Musk has become increasingly vocal on policy issues, especially those affecting electric vehicles and public spending.

Musk Expresses Regret, Trump Accuses Him of Flip-Flopping

By Wednesday, the billionaire appeared to reconsider his approach. He shared a new post on X, expressing regret over his words. “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” he admitted.

Meanwhile, President Trump did not hold back in expressing his disappointment. Speaking at a press briefing in the Oval Office, Trump accused Musk of changing his mind only after changes were made to the bill. According to Trump, Musk had originally supported the legislation when it included expanded incentives for electric vehicles.

“I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people,” Trump said. “He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden, he had a problem. And he only developed the problem when he found out that we’re going to have to cut the EV mandate.”

The standoff between Musk and Trump has created new waves in both political and tech circles, with some suggesting this may not be the last public clash between the two powerful figures.
