Jennifer Lopez and her husband are finally doing the inevitable. J Lo has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, a controversial couple who married in Las Vegas only in July 2022.
The couple’s divorce was filed pro per – meaning without an attorney. They’ve been officially separated since April 26, 2024.
The significance of the couple’s more traditional wedding in Georgia on August 20, 2022, and the divorce filing on August 20, 2024—exactly on the second anniversary, is not lost on observers.
J Lo’s docs do not mention a prenuptial agreement, meaning any earnings or profit made during their nearly two-year marriage are community property.

J Lo has waived spousal support and is asking the judge to deny Ben such support. There are no custody issues as they did not have children together.
The couple has been trying to hash out a settlement for months, but they have become increasingly acrimonious.
J Lo decided to file while they are still battling over money, as PR concerns may be involved.
Once finalized, the divorce will bring closure to the highly publicized wedding from two years ago. It may reflect the challenges some Western couples face in upholding marriage commitments.
