NCAA Suspends Ten Private Aircraft Operators for Violating Aviation Regulations

Ten private aircraft firms have had their operations halted by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for neglecting to initiate the recertification process. Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, made this information public in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

The Permits for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) for the following operators were therefore suspended: Azikel Dredging Nigeria Ltd, Bli-Aviation Safety Services, Ferry Aviation Developments Ltd, Matrix Energy Ltd, Marrietta Management Services Ltd, Worldwide Skypaths Services, Mattini Airline Services Ltd, Aero Lead Ltd, Sky Bird Air Ltd, and Ezuma Jets Ltd.

The NCAA observed that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 Part 18.3.4, which forbids holders of Permits for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) from using their aircraft to transport people, goods, or mail for profit, were being violated.

As a result of flagrant disregard of this rule, the NCAA had earlier directed all holders of PNCF to undergo re-evaluation which should have been concluded by the 19th of April 2024.,” the statement partly read.

The government warned the public that it is “illegal to engage PNCF holders for commercial purposes“, and any PNCF holder found guilty of illegal activities would face even sterner repercussions.

To ensure compliance, NCAA officials have been deployed to General Aviation Terminals (GAT) and airports’ private wings to monitor PNCF holders’ activities.

NCAA position is expected to hit hard at some wealthy individuals who have procured private jets for personal travels but lease it out for commercial flights to augment cost of maintenance.

We will keep watching the outcome. The problem with this country is the enforcement of laws. They will leave abuses for years and then one day some leader will enforce people to pay huge sums for defaults instead of punishing the people who were responsible to ensure compliance . No be today!
