President Joe Biden engaged in some playful banter with former President Donald Trump, taunting him to have a presidential debate with him. Trump has been kept busy with his criminal hush-money trial in Manhattan, New York. Heβs in court every day except Wednesdays.
“I hear you’re free on Wednesdays,” the president jibed his predecessor, over his court ordeal.
American presidential elections comes up in November. Both men are the presumptive nominees of their respective parties. The Republican National Convention for Trump takes place in July and the Democratic National Convention for Biden in August. So the debates are taking place even before they’re officially adopted by their parties as candidates.
Format And Date Agreed
Following the exchange between the current and the former presidents, their campaign organizations agreed to have the debate on June 17 – the first time the two leaders will be together on stage since 2020.
The debate will be hosted by CNN inside their Atlanta headquarters, with a moderator to be announced later as the date approaches, according to a statement just released. CNN says it has accepted to host and clarified that no audience would be present.
The Biden Challenge
In the public banters between both leaders on Wednesday, Biden tweeted, βTrump says heβll arrange his transportation. Iβll bring my plane, too. I plan on keeping it for another four yearsβ referring to Airforce One – the official aeroplane of American presidents.
Continuing, Biden said, βNow heβs acting like he wants to debate me again? Well, make my day, pal β Iβll even do it twice,β he said. βSo letβs pick the dates, Donald. I hear youβre free on Wednesdays.β
Trump’s Hard Retort
Mr Trump fired back at the challenge by branding βCrooked Joe Bidenβ as the βWORST debater I have ever facedβ he posted from his Truth Social platform a – Twitter-like social media platform he founded after he was kicked out of Twitter.
βCrooked Joe Biden is the WORST debater I have ever faced β He canβt put two sentences together! Crooked is also the WORST President in the history of the United States, by far,β he posted.
βItβs time for a debate so that he can explain to the American People his highly destructive Open Border Policy, new and ridiculous EV Mandates, the allowance of Crushing Inflation, High Taxes, and his really WEAK Foreign Policy, which is allowing the World to βCatch on Fireβ.β
Mr Trump said he was βReady and Willingβ for the two debates, one in June and the other in September and claimed he would βstrongly recommend more than two debates and, for excitement purposes, a very large venue, although Biden is supposedly afraid of crowds β Thatβs only because he doesnβt get themβ.
βJust tell me when, Iβll be there. βLetβs get ready to Rumble!!!β,β he posted.
Pushing For Third

The second debate has been fixed for September 10, to be hosted by ABC. And Trump is pushing for a third one to be hosted by FoxNews, October 2.
The Biden campaign says the President is happy with the format of the debates agreed upon because it benefits the American voters, without the distractions of large in-person audiences. The proposed format is reminiscent of the historic 1960 debate between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.
